CTEC currently offers the following classes in the career clusters identified in Appendix B.

• Art Classes
  [career cluster: Arts] – The Art, Design, Display and Exhibit class is focused on creation, research, exhibition and communication of fine art and design. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for continued study and work in college or in the workplace. Students will explore concepts and build skills that can be applied to contemporary art practice in any field.
• Construction Skills – Carpentry
  [career cluster: Construction] – Students from the Pomona High School General Construction classes and Pomona Adult School construction classes will build a 1,200-square-foot facility on Picnic Hill at Fairplex that suitable for events, weddings etc, that require dressing rooms, bathrooms and a kitchen. Additional building projects may be added.
• Fabric, Fashion and Merchandising
  [career cluster: Business] – The curriculum includes training in product design that includes idea generation and concept development, market analysis to ascertain the attractiveness of the product, fabric testing to find the appropriate material to use in the clothing line, pattern creation and sizing, sewing for merchandise production, and marketing in a runway show staged in the Millard Sheets Art Center at Fairplex.
• Fleet Maintenance
  [career cluster: Automotive] – Qualified students interested in continuing professional automotive training will enroll in the CTEC/SAROP fleet management class and continue their education in an on-the-job training program at the Fairplex automotive maintenance facility. CTEC training will include automotive maintenance and body repair. High school credit will be given by SAROP.
• Hospitality Business
  [career cluster: Business] – Qualified students interested in continuing professional hospitality training will enroll in the CTEC (SAROP) hospitality class and continue their education in an on-the-job training program at the Fairplex Sheraton hotel. The Sheraton training will include working in the kitchen, restaurant, engineering department, sales, front office and banquet facilities. High school credit will be given by SAROP. Through an articulation agreement, students will have the option to enroll in Mt. San Antonio Community College’s Hospitality and Restaurant Management Program.
• Journalism and Marketing
  [career cluster: Business] – Students tour the L.A. County Fair and other Fairplex events, return to their classrooms, write articles about their experiences and develop blogs that report on Fairplex events. Some of the students’ articles will be used in next year’s L.A. County Fair blogs.
• Landscape Design – Horticulture
  [career cluster: Agriculture] – This is a Saturday class that includes one hour of classroom instruction and two hours of outside hands-on instruction utilizing Fairplex facilities. The curriculum will include an emphasis on parks and landscape maintenance.  Units taught will consist of:  Careers, Soils, Plant Propagation, Water Management, Fertilizers, Weeds, Insects, Plant Diseases, Turf Management, and Landscape Design. CTEC is partnering with San Antonio ROP (Bonita USD & Pomona USD), and Cal Poly College of Agriculture.
• Water Technology and Conservation
  [career cluster: Environmental and Regenerative Studies] – California faces increased water demands due to population growth and economic development at a time when the stresses on available water supplies are worsening. The goal of this class is to prepare students to test for California State Distribution and Water Conservation Certificates.
